Knit our Dresses, Bonnet and Bootees suitable to fit a doll or baby.
Design
All three dresses have a bobble flower pattern to the skirt and moss stitch borders.
For the Short Sleeved and Sleeveless Dresses, the front, back and sleeves are knitted separately on straight needles and sewn together. Stitches are picked up to complete the neckline and for the opening at the back. For the Sleeveless Dress, stitches are picked up to finish off the armhole edges.
For the Round Yoke Dress, the front, sides and sleeves are knitted separately up to the Yoke and then slipped onto the same needle to complete as one garment from the yoke up to the neckline. Stitches are picked up for the back borders.
A bonnet and bootees are also included.
Sizes
The pattern includes 3 sizes to fit a doll: 33-38, (41-46, 48-56) cms or 13-15, (16-18, 19-22) inches. Also suitable for a baby in sizes: premature, (newborn, 0-3 months old).
Yarn
The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
The picture shows the 41-46 cms/16-18 inches size knitted using Rico Baby Classic DK in shade Light Green (027) and White (001) for the Short Sleeved Dress and Orchid (052) and White (001) for the Sleeveless Dress and Round Yoke Dress.
Tension:
22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles:
Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
Other requirements:
2 (3, 3) buttons for Short Sleeved Dress and Sleeveless Dress
4 (5, 5) buttons for Round Yoke Dress
Satin ribbon for Bonnet
