Knit our Robins Jacket suitable to fit a child from 6 months to 2 years old.

Design: 

The Jacket has motifs of robins in Christmas hats to the front and back.  The Jacket is fastened at the yoke by 3 buttons.

The back, left side, right side and sleeves are knitted separately up to yoke and then slipped onto same needle to complete the yoke which has an attractive cable design. The sleeves and side seams are sewn together.  Stitches are picked up for the front button/buttonhole bands.  A chart is provided to follow for the motifs.

Sizes:
The pattern includes
2 sizes to fit a child: 6-12 months and 18-24 months old. 

Skill:

Intermediate.  Written instructions provided, but you will also need experience of working from a chart to complete the motif and working with a cable needle for the yoke.

Yarn:

Double knitting wool is required (an alternative for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).

The picture shows the Jacket size 6-12 months knitted using:

Rico Baby Classic DK shades: Green (027), Red (009) and White (001)

Stylecraft DK shade: Black (1002), Brown (Walnut 1054) and Yellow (Sunshine 1114)

Tension:

22 sts and 30 rows to 10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.

Needles: 

Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.

Other requirements:

1 cable needle (size 4 mm needle)

Stitch holders

3 buttons

Small crochet hook (optional) to help pull through wool when making pompoms.
